Arnold Lofthus

Arnold P. Lofthus, 79, of rural Underwood, died Sunday October 19, 2008, at the Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls. Arnold was born November 28, 1928, in Maine Township, the son of Alfred and Hannah (Galland) Lofthus. He grew up in Maine Township, attended School District 22 and graduated from Underwood High School with the Class of 1946. After graduation Arnold farmed and worked at various jobs. In 1958 he started employment with Otter Tail Power Company. Arnold retired as Chief Operator at the Hoot Lake Plant in January of 1991 after 32 years.  Arnie was an avid sportsman and had a love for nature. Hunting, fishing and trapping were a large part of his life. He was a long time member of Tingvold Lutheran Church and the Underwood Lions Club. Arnie will be greatly missed by all his family, friends, neighbors, senior dining companions and “man’s best friend” his Airdale; Tripp. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Hannah Lofthus, and a brother-in-law, Howard Krohn. Arnie is survived by his sister, Gladys Krohn of Richfield, nieces Lynda (Bill) Gibbs of Shakopee, Judy (Charlie) Piram of Eden Prairie, and nephew Steve (Carol) Krohn of Richfield, 10 great nieces and nephews, as well as 3 great-great nieces and nephews.
