Arne Kumm

Arne Otto Kumm, 48, a resident of Elizabeth, died Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the Lakeland Hospice House in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He was born October 16, 1963, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the son of Arnold and Colleen (Trosvig) Kumm. He was baptized at his grandmother’s house by Reverend Preuss, and confirmed at First Lutheran Church. He attended McKinley Elementary School, and Fergus Falls High School, graduating in 1982. He graduated from Detroit Lakes Technical College in 1984 with a degree in Construction. On March 9, 2002, he married Denise (Wandersee) Miller in Elizabeth, Minnesota. He was employed at Nordick Construction, and then became co-owner of NK Construction of Underwood. Arne was a past member of Eagles Aerie 2339, the Fergus Falls Dart Association, and the area softball league. He was a current member of the Elizabeth Sportsman’s Club and the Fantasy Football League. Arne was also involved in Ducks Unlimited, Fish and Game, Deer Hunters, and Pheasants Forever. Arne loved to spend his free time hunting, fishing, taking family vacations, camping (sometimes starting forest fires), mowing grass, and playing cards. He especially enjoyed spending time at the lake with family and building bonfires. Preceding him in death were his father, Arnold Kumm, grandparents, aunts, uncles, a special cousin Dave Petterson, and a good friend, Roger Sorenson. Survivors include his wife, Denise Kumm of Elizabeth; son, Nickolas Miller of Elizabeth; mother, Colleen Kumm of Fergus Falls; mother and father-in-law, Duane and Diane Wandersee of Elizabeth, and brother-in-law James (Darcy) Wandersee of Fergus Falls; niece and nephew (who are also his Godchildren) Ilse and Jacob Wandersee of Fergus Falls; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many good friends; as well as his dog and companion, Buddy. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
