Arlyss Jean Jacobson, 83, a resident of Underwood, died August 31, 2013 at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls.
Arlyss was born on August 16, 1930 in Amor, MN the daughter of David and Martha Donley. She grew up in the Underwood area and graduated from Underwood High School in 1948.
On April 12, 1949 she married Sherrill Jacobson at the Bethlehem Lutheran church parsonage in Fergus Falls. Arlyss spent the majority of her life being a mom and homemaker, but also worked as a waitress at Stubs for over 20 years and later in her life worked for the City of Underwood until she retired.
She was a member of Sverdrup Lutheran Church and also Royal Neighbors. She enjoyed cooking, baking, watching and feeding the birds, gardening, playing cards, board games and watching the Twins. Knitting and crocheting were other hobbies Arlyss enjoyed and all her family received an afghan. She will always be remembered for her caring ways and was known to care for not only her children but also their friends. Her greatest joy in life was watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up and getting to be a part of their lives.
Preceding her in death were her parents; son, Terry; daughter- in-law, Sherri; sisters, Fern, Ruth, Lucille, Lois, Dory; brothers, Clarence, Melvin and Jerry.
Survivors include her husband, Sherrill of Underwood; children, Deb (Steve) Hoen, Steve (Carol) Jacobson, Randy (Cindy) Jacobson, Rick (Marie) Jacobson, Greg (Deya) Jacobson; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Ione Dahl of Fergus Falls; brother, Duane (Marion) Donley of Richville. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
