Arlene Kimball, 89, of Fergus Falls, died Friday, November 27, 2009, at her home. She was born December 20, 1919, in Menahga, MN, the daughter of William and Louise (Steffen) Hasbargen Sr. She grew up and attended school in Menahga. Ever the humble servant, she worked hard her whole life whether it was helping her parents, working with her roses, sewing, baking cinnamon rolls, making pancakes or doing whatever she could for family. On October 10, 1940, she married Luther Kimball on the Hasbargen farm. They made their home on a farm near Tintah, later returning to the Everdell area, residing there and teaching Sunday School at the Foxhome Lutheran Church for 22 years. They later moved to Vergas where they farmed. Arlene and Luther enjoyed entertaining their grandchildren at their Silent Lake lot. They moved to Fergus Falls in 1987. She enjoyed sewing, flowers and gardening and was an involved member of her church, making 700 quilt tops in her later years for Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Her fridge always had the great-grandchildren pictures and her Bible stored the birthdays of the family she loved so much. She always wore a smile and had coffee ready for anyone who stopped. Arlene cared for Luther at their home prior to his death on September 29, 1988. What she wanted was to fly away and be with Luther again and now she has. Larry, her eldest son, awaits her there as well. Survivors include Larry’s wife, Judy, Benny (Donna) of Fergus Falls, Roger (Mary Kay) of Moorhead, Glenn (Donita) of Detroit Lakes; one daughter, Lori (Terry) Jaros of Fergus Falls; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Etta Maack of Breckenridge; two brothers, Louis (Florence) Hasbargen of Fergus Falls and Warren Hasbargen of Breckenridge. There will be a time to visit with family one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, November 28, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls with Rev. Marv Abrahamson officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Fergus Falls. Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls is in charge of arrangements.
