Arlen Owen Braaten, 69, of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, May 10, 2007, in Alexandria. He was born July 6, 1937, in Halstad, Minnesota, the son of Martin and Illa (Asmundson) Braaten. He grew up in Nielsville, graduated from Nielsville High School in 1954, and then attended Concordia College. He later married and had two sons, Shane and Delhon. Over the years he worked at Reserve Mining Company, and Braaten Auto Body. He also enjoyed working in sales and did very well working for Interstate Farm Products since 2003. Arlen enjoyed working on cars and going to the batting cages with his two sons. He kept busy throughout his life doing the many outdoor activities he enjoyed, including boating, camping, and fishing. The last few years he spent building a garage, remodeling his kitchen, and last but not least, talking on the phone with his granddaughters and spoiling them with every inch of love he had. He was a serious Minnesota Twins fan. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. Arlen Braaten, we will miss your cheerful presence and love. Rest in peace. We love you! Survivors include his sons: Shane Braaten of Fergus Falls, and Delhon (Allison) Braaten of Peterson, MN; granddaughters: Makayla and Sterling Braaten of Peterson; and a brother, Robert (Joyce) Braaten and family of Two Harbors, MN. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church. Service: 2 p.m. Thursday at Hope Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.
