Annette Contos

Annette Contos, 77, of Fergus Falls, died Monday, December 7, 2015, at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.
Annette Corinne Contos was born March 22, 1938 to Clifton and Lindie (Estenson) Soliah on a farm in Grant County, MN. She was baptized at Aastad Lutheran Church and confirmed at West Elbow Lutheran Church. She grew up in Fergus Falls and Rothsay, MN. Following graduation from Rothsay High School, Annette moved to Fargo, ND. During her married life Annette lived in Devils Lake, ND and Thief River Falls, MN.

In 1982 Annette went back to school at M State Thief River Falls graduating in 1984 with an associate of arts degree. She moved back to Fergus Falls to begin her career at Ottertail Power where she worked 20 years, retiring in 2004.

Over her lifetime Annette was involved with many service organizations. Notably the Mrs. Jaycees, Boy Scouts, WELCA, with Lutheran Social Services as an advocate for the elderly and the Lions. She held a variety of roles in all of the organizations she was involved with, receiving many accolades and awards. Of them all she was most proud to serve the Lions as the District Governor for 5M9 and after serve as a Past District Governor.

Annette never met a stranger, just a friend she hadn’t made yet. Her heart sang with happiness when she was helping others. Truly she was called to serve and she lived that calling.
Annette was an avid reader, enjoyed doing needle and applique work as well as having an adventure. For Annette a trip to Dairyland could be an adventure, if done right. She loved spending time with her oldest son in Arizona and her youngest son during road trips. With her daughter she shared many interests, their love of discussion and debate always kept their relationship lively.

Annette was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law David E. Ladd.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Theresa) Casa Grande of AZ, Michele of Moorhead, MN and Christopher of Minneapolis, MN; sisters, Vyonne Ladd of Atlanta, GA and Deborah Soliah of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Robin and Joshua, great grandchildren, Ethan, Mathias and Nathanial and aunt, Arliss Kloos.

Visitation: 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, December 10, 2015, at the Olson Funeral Home with a public prayer service at 6:30 PM and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Service: 1:00 PM on Friday, December 11, 2015, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls
