Anna Scott

Anna (Henrikson) Scott, age 101, passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritan Home in Battle Lake, Minnesota, on Saturday, September 22, 2007. She was born August 29, 1906, in a houseboat on the Yukon River in Canada. She was the oldest of five girls born to Brede Albert and Nora (Pederson) Henrikson. Her family moved to Fergus Falls, MN, when she was eleven years old, after her father, who supplied fuel wood for the steam ships on the Yukon River during the gold rush, developed a serious illness. Anna married Walter Scott of Fergus Falls, MN, November 3, 1928. They had three children: Barbara (Joe) Hutchins, Palm Springs, CA, Waldo Demerest Scott, deceased, and Darcey (Don) Pederson of Bend, OR. Anna is also survived by her sister Solveig (Leonard) Christopherson, Fergus Falls; brothers-in-law: Clifford (Violet) Scott, Merle (Emily) Scott, and Ernie Sundberg, all of Fergus Falls; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nine nieces and nephews; and long time companion of Waldo Scott, Valerie Rux of Fox Lake, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter; sisters: Nettie (Clarence) Johnson, Aurora (Gene) Leipper, and Sally (Howard) Wells, and her son Waldo. Anna was a long time member of the Dane Prairie Friendship Club and enjoyed their visits. She also like gardening, sewing, collecting antiques and telling stories about her life in the Yukon. A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2007, at the Olson Funeral Home Chapel in Fergus Falls, MN. Interment will be at First Lutheran North Cemetery, Fergus Falls.
