Anna J. McCrossin, 99, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Monday, October 31, 2011, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls. She was born near Edmore, North Dakota, on February 23, 1912, to Nels and Dorthea (Solvi) Nelson. Her father, Nels, passed away in 1913, so the family moved in to Edmore. She was baptized March 10, 1912, in Bethel Lutheran Church in Edmore, and confirmed in Edmore in 1928 at Edmore Concordia Lutheran by Rev. R. Ofstedal. Anna graduated from Edmore High School in 1930. On October 17, 1930, Anna married William “Bill” McCrossin of Fergus Falls, Minnesota. They lived in Fergus Falls where they raised their four children. Anna loved flowers, crocheting, especially afghans, reading and puzzles. She especially loved her cat Boots. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church for over 65 years and enjoyed helping as long as she was able. Anna’s time at Mill Street was a blessing to her as she loved to laugh and joke around with her “girls”. Anna’s kindness and sense of humor shined her entire life – as soon as you met Anna you would never forget her. Anna had a true love for her family, and she was blessed with many people who loved and cared for her throughout her years. Anna was truly grateful for her Debbie, Myron, and Beverly, who helped her and loved her unconditionally in every way. Anna will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Gatz; 14 grandchildren: Deb (Myron) Graff, Dawn (Jeff) Hanson, Dean (Sandra) Paulson, Darla (Tony) Christianson, Regis Gatz Jr., Carol (Roger) Turner, Tammy Gatz Madson, Lisa (Blake) Tommerdahl, William Gatz, Anne (Craig) Mullen, Mary (Mark) Midose, Lori Wood, Paul McCrossin, and Steven (Jennifer) McCrossin; 26 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law Sanford Paulson; and daughter-in-law Yvonne McCrossin. Preceding her in death were her parents, Nels and Dorthea Nelson; husband, Bill; son, Duane McCrossin; daughter, Doris Stenstrom and Son-in-law, Eugene Stenstrom; Daughter, Gail Paulson; Grandson, Robert McCrossin; brother Arthur Nelson and sister-in-law,Helen Nelson; and her loving cat Boots! Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service, and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.
