Ann Iverson

Anna M. “Ann” Iverson, 96, or “Mom” as she was fondly known to her family, died Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Midwest Home Health in Fergus Falls.  She was born February 16, 1914, in Hensler, North Dakota, in Oliver County, the daughter of Harry and Bertha (Perschke) Ellis. She attended school at Fort Clark, North Dakota. On January 15, 1934, she married Lester Iverson in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota. During the early years of marriage, she was employed as a seamstress and waitress. In the latter 1950’s and early 1960’s Ann and Les owned and operated the HiWay Inn Café. After leaving the restaurant business they retired to a farm near Underwood. She worked at the Underwood Liquor Store and Archies Surplus until she re-retired at 82. Mom enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking – especially bread, cinnamon rolls, and donuts, Minnesota Twins baseball, Sunday dinners at the farm, and dancing and music. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the Eagles Auxiliary, where she had been a member for nearly 60 years. Ann had been a cancer survivor since the early 1970’s. Preceding her in death were her husband, Les, in 1986; two brothers, Bob and Harold Ellis; a sister, Martha Paetz; a granddaughter, and one great-grandson. Survivors include her three children: Allegra (Darol) Anderson, Darrell (Mary) Iverson, and Clair (Karen) Iverson, all of Fergus Falls; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Graham of Tucson, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
