Andy C. Leitch, age 86, of Underwood, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at the Pioneer Retirement Community in Fergus Falls. He was born November 9, 1923, in Sverdrup Township of Otter Tail County, Minnesota, the son of Andrew “Doc” and Ada (Andrus) Leitch. He graduated from Underwood High School in 1941, and enlisted in the Navy where he served during World War II, being discharged in 1945. On July 20, 1944 he married Carol Ank in San Francisco. When he came home after the war, they moved to Maine Township, and then to Amor Township. He was a partner in the Leitch Construction Company. He then worked for the Dieseth Company, and then for Sweeney Brothers of Fargo, and Road Machinery and Supplies of Minneapolis until his retirement. Andy served as an Otter Tail County Commissioner for 16 years. He belonged to the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed fishing and building model airplanes. Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, Chester “Ted” Leitch, and Russell L. Leitch, and two sisters, Stella Steeke, and Dorothy Jensen. Survivors include his wife, Carol Leitch; two sons, Jay (Becky) Leitch and Guy (Judy) Leitch; two daughters, Susan (Todd) Taylor and Melissa (Mike) O’Donnell; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
