Amy Rindahl, 89, of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, April 28, 2007, at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center. She was born March 3, 1918, in Eagle Lake Township of Otter Tail County, the daughter of Olaf and Emelia (Glende) Hanson. Amy grew up and attended country school in Eagle Lake Township. Later in life, at the age of fifty, Amy received her GED. On March 8, 1934 she married Melvin O. Rindahl in Battle Lake. Together Amy and Melvin raised eight children. The couple farmed for many years in the Battle Lake and Vining area until relocating to Fergus Falls in 1948. During her working years in town, Amy was employed at the Normandy Cafe` as well as the National Tea Store. In 1951 she started employment as a LPN with the Fergus Falls State Hospital. Amy received an achievement award as a group supervisor, and retired in 1981 after 30 years of service. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Esther Circle. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Melvin in 1981; a daughter, Donna Rocholl; a granddaughter, Kim Burgett; two grandsons, Dennis Rindahl Jr. and Richard Fosse Jr.; a sister, Laura Jorud; and Peaches, her special dog and companion for many years. Survivors include her children, Beverly (Darel) Runningen of Battle Lake; Romayne Gast of Elyria, Ohio; Larry (Vi) Rindahl of St. Cloud; Phyllis (Richard) Schmaus of Park Rapids; Dennis Rindahl of Red Wing; Mavis Fosse of Isanti and Arlene (David) Nelson of Frazee; 26 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Amy was a strong, kind lady whose voice has been silenced. May she have the peace that only God can give. She is loved. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Olson Funeral Home, with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
