Alvina Fuder

Alvina Esther (Jacobson) Fuder, 96, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Lake Region Hospital on Sunday, May 25, 2014.
She was born to Jacob and Julia (Anderson) Jacobson on July 21, 1917 on a farm in Andrea Township, Wilkin County Minnesota. She attended country school there thru the eighth grade and then her family moved to Western township. She was confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in 1929. She attended Fergus Falls High School for 2 years and finished her High School education in Granite Falls while living with her sister Myra Sebey and family and graduated in 1935.
On February 14, 1939 she married Harry Fuder at Western Presbyterian Church. They farmed in Akron Township in Wilkin County until 1946 when they purchased a farm in Orwell Township. During their farming years they farmed small grains, had dairy cows, beef cows, and hogs. They opened their Quonset as the Roller Skating Rink to all the neighborhood farm families. In 1974 they moved to their new home in Fergus Falls.
She was a member of the Orwell Sunshine Circle, the Orwell Farmers Club, was very active in the Senior Citizen Center, and visited her husband Harry every day at the Broen Home for over three years before his passing in 1997. She was active in Bethlehem Lutheran Church WELCA, Altar Guild, VSP and quilting.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Harry; three brothers, Almen, Joe, Orlin (Ole) Jacobson and three sisters, Myra Sebey, Alice Lehman, Ethel Jacobson and one great-grandson, Michael Haiby.
Alvina is survived by her children; Shelba Schoon of Fergus Falls, Karen (Loren) Moxness of Fergus Falls, Rick (Diana) Fuder of Battle Lake; seven grandchildren, Tammy (Don) Wahlstrom, Penny (Tim) Rogelstad, Paula Saurer (Brandon Sedler), Lori Moxness, Mark (Valerie) Moxness, Brian (Mindy) Fuder, Kari (Jed) Melbostad and 17 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 11 to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
