Alvin Curtis “Pat” Anderson, 91, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls. He was born October 9, 1918, at home in Western Township rural Fergus Falls, the son of August and Emily (Sundberg) Anderson. He grew up on the family farm, attending rural school at District #252 in Orwell Township. On September 14, 1941, he married Irene Hanson at First United Church of Christ in Fergus Falls, and they made their home in Buse Township. Pat entered the service on June 12, 1942, and served as a sergeant with the U.S. Air Force 413th Bomb Squadron in England during World War II. He was discharged on November 5, 1945, and returned to the family farm. He joined his father’s well business, Anderson Well Drilling. After a few years he then became co-owner with his brother, Jack, and it became Anderson Brothers Well Drilling. In 1975 he became sole owner of the business. Pat retired in 1980. He was a lifelong member of First United Church of Christ, and also a member of the VFW and Elks, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, and the Deerhunters Association. Pat loved his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, deer hunting, fishing the bass opener, and doing yard work and gardening. A highlight was being able to hunt with his sons and grandsons. He also loved attending ballgames and activities of his grandchildren. Pat was always available to lend a helping hand with his children’s building projects. He was well known in the community, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Irene in 2006, a daughter, Patti Halvorson, and eight siblings: sisters, Mabel, as a toddler, Marion, as an infant, Helen, Evelyn, and Dorothy, and brothers Jack, Jerry and Mike. Survivors include two sons, Douglas (Louise) Anderson, and Mark (Barb) Anderson, all of Fergus Falls; eight grandchildren: Tyler (Missy) Halvorson, Jason Halvorson, Ryan (Lindsey Bauck) Anderson, Lindsey (Matt) Kugler, Michelle Anderson, Joshua (Liz) Anderson, Matthew (fiancè CaliAnn Rittenour) Anderson, and Sarah Anderson; three great-grandchildren: Brady Halvorson, Jacob Halvorson, and Gracyn Kugler; three sisters: Alice Ferguson of Fergus Falls, Hazel Olson of New Mexico, and Lucy Peterson of Washington; and numerous other relatives.
