Alta Thompson, 100, of Fergus Fall, died Monday, September 2, 2019 at the Broen Home in Fergus Falls.
Alta Senica Thompson was born September 3, 1918 in Barrett, MN to Walter and Christine (Ellingson) Lund. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Barrett. She graduated from the Alexandria High School in 1937. She then worked as a telephone operator in Hoffman, until her marriage to Ralph Thompson in 1943. The couple farmed for a time near Cyrus, MN. In 1950 they moved to Fergus Falls. She was employed at Lake Region Hospital for 25 years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and its organizations. She was a volunteer worker at the Senior Citizen Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph; daughter, Gwen Anderson; son-in-law, Dale Fischer; sister, Evelyn Koster, and brothers, Wallace and Warren Lund.
She is survived by her daughter, Kay Fischer of Brooklyn Park; four grandchildren, Paula (Cory) Pederson, Grant (Dawn) Anderson, Matthew (Danielle) Fischer, and Darren Fischer; five great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Pederson, Avery, Theo, and Ruby Fischer, and Lydia Fischer; son-in-law, Gary (Chris) Anderson and sister-in-law, Bernice Thompson.
Service: Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Visitation will be one-hour prior to the service at the church.
