Allen L. Thunselle, 71, a resident of Cypress CA, died in a peaceful manner with his wife at his side, on December 23, 2016. In 2011, he acquired Myelodysplastic Syndrome, an environmental exposure disease, and succumbed to it despite a bone marrow transplant this past April.
Allen was born in Fergus Falls, MN, on January 24, 1945, to Juliet and Edwin Thunselle. A 1963 graduate of Fergus Falls High School, in early 1964 he moved from Minnesota to Southern California. Eventually Allen was drafted into the US Army Artillery. He spent the first year at Fort Bliss, TX, and the second year in Vietnam.
In June 1986 Allen met the love of his life, Linda Lau. They were married on June 1, 1989. Allen had a good career as a cost estimator with McDonnell Douglas for thirty years and four years with Boeing. He was a member and volunteer at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in CA.
Allen was a car enthusiast, at one time having a hotrod, a Porsche, and a Corvair. He also enjoyed writing about his youth, having attended a one-room country school near Ten Mile Lake. A bit of a storyteller, to some listeners he reminded them of Bob Newhart!
He was preceded in death by his parents, Juliet and Edwin Thunselle; Linda’s parents, David and Mary Lau; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and most recently, his only brother, James Thunselle and his wife, Donna Thunselle.
Allen is survived by his wife Linda Thunselle of Cypress, CA; two sisters, Mary Lou Thunselle and Elaine (Kermith) Dybdal; and many nephews and nieces.
