Allan L. Kjos, 74, a former resident of Fergus Falls, died Friday April 18, 2014, at his home in Shakopee, under the care of Hospice and his loving family, following a battle with lung cancer.
He was born May 21, 1939, in Mahnomen, the son of Lloyd and Nora (Wang) Kjos. He grew up in Mahnomen, and graduated from Mahnomen High School in 1957. Allan served in the US Navy from 1958-1961, serving on the ship, USS Carter Hall. He then attended Business School graduating in 1963.
On June 9, 1962, he married Rosemary Krebsbach in Ogema. He was a Sales Manager in the bread business, long standing with Metz Baking Company in Fergus Falls and Pan O’Gold Bakery in Fargo, ND. He retired in 1993. During retirement years, he worked at County Market in Detroit Lakes, for his long-time friend Kathy Dixon.
He was a member of the VFW Post 612, Eagles Post 2339, Knights of Columbus and the Jaycees. Allan enjoyed all things family, sports and relaxing; golfing, fishing, vacationing, working in the yard, basketball, football, and spending time with his family.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Terrance; a nephew; Timothy Kjos, a niece, Kelsey Kjos, and his mother and father-in-law, Edmund and Adelide Krebsbach.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary “Mary” Kjos of Shakopee; a daughter, Mary (Scott) Larson, of Shakopee; a son, Jason (Mary Jo) Kjos of Lake City; grandchildren, Alicia, Matthew and Marc Kjos of Lake City, Nichelle Larson of Grand Forks, ND and Brynn Larson of Duluth; great-grandchild, Mahkona; siblings, Duwayne (Joyce) Kjos of NC, Lloyd (Lynette) Kjos Jr. of CA, Ann Marie (Al) Alcorn of CA, Cindy (Kent) Johnson of SD, and David (Loni) Kjos of MN; and brother-in-law, Bob (Pat) Krebsbach of MN.
Visitation: 5-8 pm Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at the funeral home, with a prayer service at 7 pm and visitation resumes one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 10:30 am Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Elizabeth
