Alice M. Western, 82, a resident of Fergus Falls, formerly of Rothsay, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls after a brief illness. She was born April 8, 1926, in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, the daughter of Adolph and Emma (Seim) Anderson. She was baptized and confirmed at Grove Lake Lutheran Church, rural Pelican Rapids. She attended country school through the eighth grade. Alice graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1944. She worked at the Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center for several years as a food supervisor. On March 25, 1956, she married LeRoy Western at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rothsay, Minnesota. She was a member of that church, where she was active in Ladies Aid, and served as a Camp Fire Girls leader and Cub Scout leader. Alice and LeRoy moved to Fergus Falls on March 21, 1996. Preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters: Adelaide Strand and Mildred Halvorsen, and a brother, Earl Anderson. Survivors include her husband, LeRoy, of Fergus Falls; a son, Dr. Lonny (Lauren) of Redondo Beach, California; a daughter, Gayla (Jim) Haukos of Fergus Falls; a granddaughter, Lacey Haukos and a grandson, Joey Haukos. Several nephews and nieces also survive her.
