Alice Lillian Tollerud, 100, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, December 30, 2010, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. She was born November 19, 1910, in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, the daughter of Anton and Sophie (Hovland) Kittelson. She attended rural elementary school, and then Pelican Rapids High School, graduating in 1929. On November 18, 1944, she married Oscar Tollerud in Pelican Rapids. Oscar passed away in 1957. Alice worked for several years as a housekeeper in Fargo, Minneapolis, and Washington DC, and at Ideal Candy Company in Fargo until her marriage. In 1958 she moved to Fergus Falls where she was employed by Woolworths for a year. She then took a job at Norby's in the Cosmetic Department which she managed for 20 years. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, participating in Circle and VSP. Alice was an excellent baker - especially her lemon meringue pie. She enjoyed playing cards and time spent with her family. She liked to travel and enjoyed trips with Toni and Max. She also enjoyed weekly lunch and shopping days. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Oscar; two brothers, Henry and Oscar; and six sisters: Alma Pfeffer, Selma Bergstrom, Jean Siggerud, Mabel Hart, Betty Haugrud and Toni Kruse. Survivors include her daughter, Sharon (Roger) Vettleson of Perham; three grandchildren: Ross Vettleson of Perham, Susan (Nick) Morris of Brooklyn Park, MN, and Ryan (Ulrika) Vettleson of Plymouth, MN; five great-grandchildren: Kaylin Vettleson, Matt and Max Morris, and Alice and Linnea Vettleson; as well as many nieces and nephews.
