Alice Schleske

Alice B. Schleske, 96, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, November 28, 2009 at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. Alice was born on October 5, 1913 in Erhards Grove Township, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Lekve) Norgren. She was baptized and confirmed at Bagstevold Lutheran Church in Erhard and attended country school east of Erhard. After school she did domestic work for area families.  On October 25, 1933, she married Harold Schleske at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. After the couple married, they lived on the home place in Friberg Township to help with the farming.  Alice was a member of St. Paul Lutheran church where she was active in Ladies Aide and served as the Sunday School Superintendent.   She enjoyed working at the Otter Tail County Fair, and also at the lunch counter of the Fergus Falls Auction Market. She also enjoyed visiting and flower gardening. She will be remembered for her homemade chocolate sour cream cake and red jell-o with bananas, which was a requirement at every family function; and also her love of angels, her angel collection and all her kindnesses. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Harold, who died on January 13, 1996; brothers, Inar, Clifford, Carl and Oscar Norgren; sisters, Jennie Schleske and Myrtle Posey. Survivors include one son, Sheldon (Mavis) Schleske of Fergus Falls, daughter, Betty Jacobson of Pelican Rapids; seven grandchildren, Bernell (Gwen) Schleske, Barry (Dawn) Schleske, Teresa (Philip) Johnson, Boyd (Tiffany) Schleske, Brent (Brenda) Schleske, Tanya (Chris) Ott and Shilo Jacobson (special friend, Brooke Carlsrud); 14 great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Brittney, Matthew, Nicole, Tyler, Michael, Dylan, Noah, and Logan Schleske, Dacia and Payton Johnson, Austin and Cody Montgomery and Zane Ott; three sisters, Elsie Kugler of Fergus Falls, Lorraine Peterson of Nevada City, CA, and Marie Krause of Grass Valley, CA; a sister-in-law, Celia Norgren of  Fergus Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation:  5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with a public prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Service: 11 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran church, Fergus Falls Clergy:   Reverend Noel Herr Burial:    St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery Arrangements:   Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls.
