Albin Morrill

Albin H. “Babe” Morrill, 81, a resident of Elbow Lake, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 9, 2009, at the ELEAH Medical Center in Elbow Lake. He was born April 2, 1928, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the son of Harvey D. and Alice (Wahlgren) Morrill. He grew up in Fergus Falls, graduating from Fergus Falls High School in 1946. After high school he worked for his father in road construction until 1949. Over the years he was a mechanic for Skogmo Motors and also with Dieseth Construction, until returning to work for his father until 1957. He then owned and operated South Mill Standard until 1965, when he became a salesman for Suhr Ford. Babe became a realtor and established the A. H. Morrill Real Estate Company, selling real estate locally and in Arizona for the next 36 years. On June 2, 1949 he married Edith Petersen in Underwood. The couple had two children, Mary and Steven. Edith died in January of 1971. Babe married Myrna (Lyren) Chandler on August 11, 1971 in Foxhome. This marriage established Morrill-Chandler Inc., bringing Caryn, Kelly and Kimberly into the fold. Babe loved his family, and they were his greatest joy in life Babe was a life member of the Elks Club and Augustana Lutheran Church. He loved photography, traveling, storytelling, a good joke, and hunting. Preceding him in death were his parents, his first wife, Edith, and a great-granddaughter, Isabelle. Survivors include his wife, Myrna, of Elbow Lake; five children: Steven (Starr) Morrill of Battle Lake, Mary (Todd) Ebersviller of Lino Lakes, Caryn (Kirk) Williams of Fergus Falls, Kelly (Roxanne) Chandler of Elbow Lake, and Kimberly (Cody) Fisher of Fergus Falls; two brothers, Stanley Morrill of Fergus Falls, and Ivan (Donna) Morrill of LaCrosse, WI; 13 grandchildren: Joshua (Kirstie), Seth, Ian, Alice (Barrett), Louis, Molly, Laura, Hattie, Nathan (Katy), Maggie, Karli (Ryan), Ben and Eric; and six great-grandchildren: Connor, Sean, Isaac, Elijah, Ashalynn and Harriet.
