Agnes Helen Nyman, 89, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. She was born April 3, 1921, in Wahpeton, North Dakota, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Hrdlicka) Napravnik. She grew up in Wahpeton, attending high school there. She was baptized and confirmed in Wahpeton. In 1939 she married Ellwyn Nyman. The couple lived in Fergus Falls, where they raised their three sons. In the mid 1950’s she worked in the business office at Lake Region Hospital. Throughout her years in Fergus she was involved in many activities including the Cub Scouts. She was also a member of the local sewing club in the 50’s. She was very proud of the times she would cook for her relatives in North Dakota during the threshing season. Agnes will also be forever remembered for her outstanding baking skills. In 1962 she moved to Portland, Oregon. She worked in the business office at St. Vincent Hospital for 30 years. She returned to Fergus Falls in 1991 to be closer to her family. She became an active member of the First Baptist Church. Agnes will be remembered for her love of family, especially her great-grandchildren. She never missed watching a Lakers’ game, and also enjoyed following the Minnesota Twins. She was a loving and compassionate person who was ready to go “out for a cup” at the drop of a hat. Everyone who met her, loved her. She will be greatly missed. Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother, Joe Napravnik, and a granddaughter, Janna Nyman of Millinocket, Maine. Survivors include three sons: James (Joyce) Nyman of Millinocket, Maine, Richard (Bonnie) Nyman of Port Orange, Florida, and Curtis (Dodey) Nyman of Fergus Falls; six grandchildren: James, Jr. (Jennifer) Nyman of New Durham, New Hampshire, Jodie (Matt) Burgess of Carmel, Maine, Kari Nyman of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Siri Nyman of Brooklyn, New York, Lisa Shuck of Fergus Falls, and Lori (David) Dietz of Fargo, North Dakota; ten great-grandchildren: Ryan Nyman and Alexis West, James and Abbie Burgess, Taylor and Morgan Shuck, and Grace, Emily, Adam and Megan Dietz; a sister, Marge (Ron) Amato of Portland, Oregon; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Napravnik of Seattle, Washington; and a cousin, Leonard Jelinek of Lidgerwood, ND. She also left behind many relatives in North Dakota. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Fergus Falls at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 21, 2010.
