Agnes Halverson

Agnes H. E. (Richter) Halverson, 98, a resident of Fergus Falls, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Home in Pelican Rapids. She was born on April 13, 1912, in Friberg Township of Otter Tail County, Minnesota, the daughter of Otto F. and Bertha (Buchholz) Richter. She was baptized by the Rev. Grabarkewitz on May 27, 1912, and was confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in West Friberg by Pastor William Kanning. She attended School District No. 66 in Friberg Township. Prior to her marriage Agnes worked at the DeSoto Creamery & Produce, and at the Nelson Cafe in Fergus Falls. The most cherished memories she kept were of her life with Morris on the farm which they cultivated so beautifully in Aurdal Township. They retired from the farm in 1989. On August 29, 1936, she married Morris H. Halverson at the Immanuel Lutheran Church-West Friberg and together they were blessed with reaching many milestones, not only their 25th wedding anniversary, but also their 40th, 50th, and 60th anniversaries. Agnes was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. In February 2006 she entered the Good Samaritan Home in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Morris, their son, Eldon, and sisters Lydia (Ted) Palmquist, Hattie (Robert) Enstrom, Emma (John) Seeba, and Hulda (Merle) Colwell, brothers William (Catherine) Richter, and Otto R. (Corrine) Richter, and sons-in-law Wesley Miller and Rev. David Nickel. She is survived by her daughters Joyce Nickel of Lancaster, PA, Joann (Burke) Schultz and Jane Miller of Fergus Falls. She is also survived by grandchildren Sherri (David) Milstone of Dartmouth, MA, Jeff (Rachel) Nickel of Lancaster, PA, Aaron (Monica) Schultz of Fergus Falls, Tanya (Dale) Hanstad of Fergus Falls, Mia (Chris) Boe of Grand Forks, ND, Susanne Halverson of Fergus Falls, and Christopher (Amy) Halverson of Hager City, WI; eight great-grandchildren: Alexandra and Matthew Milstone, Natalie and Laura Nickel, Elizabeth Harris, Nicholas and Maria Boe, and Morgan Halverson; a sister, Myrtle (Claude) Neumann, and many nieces and nephews. Memorials are preferred to the Trinity Lutheran Church and School Building Fund, Fergus Falls, MN.
