Agnes Hagen

Agnes Hagen, of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at the age of 105 at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Agnes (Aas) Hagen was born March 14, 1906, in Aurdal Township near Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Ole and Anna (Olson) Aas. Agnes was the second to the youngest child of fifteen children. She attended rural school in Aurdal Township. On November 9, 1935, she married John Hagen. They made their home on the Hagen farm in Dane Prairie Township near Underwood where they raised their two daughters. Agnes was involved at the Sverdrup Lutheran Church, the Underwood School, and the Dane Prairie neighborhood that she loved. John died in 1969 and Agnes moved to Moorhead, Minnesota where she was employed as the House Mother at the Alpha Phi Sorority at Minnesota State University, Moorhead for 11 years. After retirement, she continued to live in Moorhead in the winter months and at Little Pleasant Lake near Underwood in the summer months where she entertained many family and friends. Agnes is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead and was one of the “Soup and Talk” ladies for several years. She moved to the Broen Home in Fergus Falls in June of 2005. Agnes is survived by two daughters: Mary Ann (Vernon) Leitch of St. Cloud, MN, and Verna (Bruce) Leitch of Underwood, MN; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren: Elizabeth (Charles) Sell, Samantha (Jon) Trebesch and David, Gayle (Jack) Kelly, Nicholas and MacKenzie, Steven (Jenifer) Leitch, Brittany and Bradley, Laurie Leitch (Bill Gorcica), Daniel (Mary) Leitch, John and Amanda, and Kathleen (Eric) Gibson, Michael, Thomas and Elizabeth Agnes; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, Ole and Anna Aas; sisters, Clara Soliah and Mary Westerhaug; brothers, Anton, Martin, Gustav, Oscar, Alvin, Palmer, Joe, and Raymond; as well as two sets of infant twins.
