Adeline Lorene Rose

Adeline Lorene Rose, 95, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, July 22, 2018, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.

She was born on November 4, 1922, in Fergus Falls, MN, to Frank and Anna (Pedersen) Schmidt. Adeline grew up on farms in Orwell Township, south of Fergus Falls. After graduating from Fergus Falls High School in 1940, Adeline worked for Dr. & Mrs. Heiberg and family.

Adeline was introduced to Herbert “Herb” H. Rose by her brother, Alvin, when she was 16. On October 2, 1942, Adeline and Herb were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. They resided at the Rose Family farm north of Fergus Falls, where they farmed. Their son, Larry was born in 1945. In 1947, Herb quit farming and they moved into Fergus Falls where he worked as an auto mechanic for Joe Burris Motors. Their sons Doyle and Dean were born in 1948, followed by their daughter, Joan in 1954. While Herb got his dream job at Otter Tail Power Co. (and also worked on vehicles at home), Adeline was the best mother and homemaker in the world.

Adeline worked as the Manager at North Union Grocery for 23 years. Adeline and Herb were charter members and instrumental in creating Faith Lutheran Church in 1960. They were very active in many organizations at Faith over the years. Adeline and Herb also worked for several years at the Lake Region Pioneer Threshers in Dalton where Adeline was selected as the Queen of Steam in 1988. Being members of the Classic Car Club was a special part of their lives.

Adeline loved to bake, cook, and share her food with everyone. Her family, faith, and friends brought her great joy. It made her very happy to be a caring and generous woman.

Upon the passing of Herb in June 2001, Adeline moved to River Bluff II Apartments until July 2015. Adeline again drew on her faith when her daughter, Joan passed away and she moved to Park Gardens of Fergus Falls. In March 2018, Adeline suffered a broken leg, and then moved to Pioneer Long-Term Care in Fergus Falls.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Frank and Anna Schmidt; brothers, Edward (Viola) Schmidt, Alvin Schmidt; sister, Marie (Russell) Johnson, and brother-in-law, Milton Erlandson.

Survivors include her children, Larry (Shari) Rose of Minnetonka, MN, Doyle (Kim) Rose of Studio City, CA, Dean (Sue Timm) of Chaska, MN; grandchildren, Chris (Molly Jackson) Rose, Chad (Anne Lally) Rose, Josh (Phebbie) Rose, Max (Gabby) Rose, Jeremy (Emily Martin Richards) Rose, Jessica (Brian) Alexander, Kristy Tetzlaff, Amy (Shawn) Griego, Julie (Jamie) Hanson; great-grandchildren, Madeline Rose, Noah Rose, Anika Rose, Sophia Lally, Madison Rose, Justin Rose, Jake Alexander, Logan Alexander, Bailee Griego, Alexis Griego, Alison Hanson, Alexander Hanson, Colten Knutson, Caden Knutson; sister, Arlene Erlandson of Fergus Falls; and sister-in-law, Lucille Schmidt.

Adeline’s family would like to thank the staff at Park Gardens, PioneerCare, and LB Homes-Lakeland Hospice Comfort Care for their excellent care and support.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Faith Lutheran Church-Fergus Falls, or LB Hospice.

Visitation: 4-6 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2018, with a 5:30 p.m. public prayer service at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls, and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Faith Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls, MN
Clergy: Reverend Craig Palach
Interment: Trinity-Faith Cemetery, Fergus Falls, MN
