Maureen Ann McGovern, age 65, of Fergus Falls, died unexpectedly on Friday, May 13, 2016, at her home.
Maureen was born on September 4, 1950, to Kenneth B. and Ritamary (Reynolds) McGovern in Glendive, MT. She graduated from Glendive High School. After graduation, she attended Carroll College in Helena, MT, where she majored in medical records.
After college, Maureen moved to Fergus Falls and immediately began her career at Lake Region Healthcare. She retired in 2015 as the Department Manager in Health Information Systems.
Maureen was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fergus Falls and a book club. Above all, she loved following her nieces and nephews activities, attending family events and visiting her home in Montana. She enjoyed reading, watching movies, and entertaining with her friends and neighbors. She was known for her big heart, she made everyone feel special. To be a friend of Maureen was to be special. Maureen had a way of making everyone feel that way, unforgettable, that is what she was.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth McGovern; and a brother, Terry McGovern.
Maureen is survived by her mother, Rita McGovern of Glendive, MT; her brothers, Kevin (Sandi) McGovern and Greg (Debbie) McGovern all of Glendive, MT, Brian (Janette) McGovern of Billings, MT, and Todd (Stacy) McGovern of Fergus Falls; a sister, Ann (Howard) Walsh of Laurel, MT; and her nieces and nephews, Kelly (Brian) Bourgeois, Beth (James) Zerr, Mike (Kelly) Gilbert, Kelsey (fiancé Devon) Gilbert, Brendan McGovern, Matthew McGovern, Lauren (fiancé Eric) McGovern, and Nick Walsh.
Visitation: 5:00-7:00 PM on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls with a Prayer Vigil at 6:30 PM and The Rosary at 7:00 PM.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fergus Falls
