JoAnne Anderson

JoAnne “Josie” H. Anderson, 74, of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, October 9, 2010, at Midwest Home Health in Fergus Falls. She was born April 24, 1936, in Rolette County, ND, the daughter of Anton “Tony” and Velva (House) Christenson. She grew up in Dunseith, ND, near the Turtle Mountains, later moving to Renton, Washington and then to Underwood, MN, where she graduated from High School in 1954. On May 2, 1959, she married Arvid “A.J.” Anderson in Webster, SD. They lived on and managed turkey farms in southern Minnesota before moving to Underwood when JoAnne worked at Medallion Kitchens in Fergus Falls. In 1977, they moved to live by the Otter Tail River where she cleaned at Stubs Dining Hall in Battle Lake and also at various campgrounds. In the winter months, she worked at the mink farm in Ottertail. Arvid died on January 19, 1990, and JoAnne continued to live by the river until 1995, when she moved into Fergus Falls. Most recently she had resided at Midwest Home Health where she received caring and compassionate care until her death. Preceding her in death were her parents, an infant brother, and her husband. Survivors include her children, Marla (Iver) Henjum, Jeff (Rachel) Anderson and Jodi Fyhrie all of Fergus Falls; seven stepchildren: Donald (Nancy) Anderson, Darlene (Rick) Dockter, Ruth Ann Johansen, Sandi Lee, Dale (Carl) Schorr, Bryan Anderson and Debra Anderson; four grandchildren, Marissa Henjum, Joseph Enderle-Anderson, Megan Anderson and Madison Jorgenson all of Fergus Falls; three step grandchildren Candace, Eric and Kendric Henjum; one step great-grandson, Richard Henjum; along with numerous cousins.
