Eugene "Gene" Keller

Eugene “Gene” Keller, 78, of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.

Eugene Francis Keller was born June 10, 1945 to Peter and Dorothy (Kauffman) Keller in Dickinson, ND. He graduated from Flaxton High School in 1963. After high school he joined the United States Air Force, Offutt AFB, in Omaha, NE serving during the Vietnam War. He was a computer operator and programmer, and Co-Section Chief of Operations. He was honorably discharged.

Gene attended Minot State College, University of Nebraska in Omaha, University of Nebraska in Lincoln, and Advanced Schools Inc. in Chicago receiving a two-year correspondence in Automotive Mechanics.

Over the years, Gene was employed at various places, Mann’s Automotive in Minot, Curtiss Industries in East Lake, OH, Firestone Store in Minot, Big A Auto Parts/Industrial Bearing in Williston, Sealed Power Corporation in Muskegon, MI, National Bushing and Parts Co. in Fergus Falls, Lindberg Motors in Rothsay, and Corwin Dodge in auto sales.

On May 2, 1969 Gene married Merry Ericson in Salmon, ID.

Gene enjoyed playing cards, watching the MN Twins and Vikings, and watching the Bison. His eyes always lit up when his granddaughters walked into the room. He was a member of the American Legion for 49 years.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Peter and Dorothy Keller, and a brother, James Keller.

Gene is survived by his wife, Merry Keller; two sons, Frank (Devona) Keller and Lee (Missy) Keller; grandchildren, Nikki and Katie Keller and Alyssa (Luke) Woolhouse, Alanna and Aleah Keller; great-grandchildren, Nolee, Lux, and Nia Woolhouse, Laker and Treysen Forbush, and Jace and Linkin Keller; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom Bengston, Judy (Larry) Olney, George (Cheryl) Ericson, Dan Ericson, Arlene (Jim) Havekost, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls, with visitation one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment: Oak Grove Cemetery, Fergus Falls, MN
