Charlotte Peterson, 99, a resident of Fergus Falls, formerly of Rothsay, died Friday, December 19, 2008, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. She was born in Rothsay, Minnesota, April 7, 1909, one of six children of Herman P. and Caroline (Pederson) Rudh. She was baptized and confirmed at Hamar Lutheran Church in Rothsay. She attended the Rothsay School through her eleventh year, and graduated from Fergus Falls High School. Following a year of Teacher Training in Fergus Falls, she taught for seven years in Wilkin County rural schools. She then resumed her education at the Moorhead State Teacher’s College, now Minnesota State University Moorhead, and earned the Elementary Teaching Degree. She taught fifth grade in the Ortonville, MN public school for five years. On September 27, 1942, Charlotte and Charles Mervin Peterson were married at Hamar Lutheran Church in Rothsay. They resided on the A.K. Peterson farm in Prairie View Township and retired from farming in 1973. The following year they moved into Rothsay. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and the WELCA, the Rothsay Senior Citizens and served several terms as a director of the Rothsay Housing Corporation. Charles died May 4, 1988. Charlotte continued living in Rothsay until October of 1997 when she moved to Pioneer Pointe in Fergus Falls. In December of 2002 she entered the Broen Memorial Home. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Charles; four sisters, Florence Jacobson, Goldie Strande, Ethelyn Loween, and Jeanette Amundson; and one brother, Herbert Rudh. Survivors include her children: Becky (Joe) Maske of Pelican Rapids, MN, Faith (Roger) Buechler of Dell Rapids, SD, and Tom (Catherine) Peterson of St. Paul, MN; five grandchildren: Chris (LeAnn) Peterson, Lance (Lisa) Buechler, Tera (Paul) Keatts, Betta Peterson, and Anna Peterson; a step-granddaughter, Amy (Bob) Mueller; six great-grandchildren: Hanna and Jack Buechler, Michael, Katie and Lexi Keatts, and Charles Peterson; a step great-grandson, Lucas Mueller; a sister-in-law, Mabel (Loren) Braton; a brother-in-law, Arthur Peterson; and nieces and nephews.
