Betty was born on New Year’s Eve in 1939, the daughter of Art and Ethel (Norgren) Fick of rural Rothsay, MN. She grew up on her family’s dairy farm in rural Elizabeth, MN. Betty was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Elizabeth, MN. Betty was a 1957 graduate of Fergus Falls High School and went on to work at Otter Tail Power as a secretary.

She was also involved in the Fergus Falls 4-H Club, Homemakers Club and the Farm Wife Committee (now known as the Red Hat Ladies). Recently, Betty and Allen were on the founding committee for the Angel of Hope Park in Fergus Falls, a memorial for parents who have lost a child.

Betty loved going to her grandchildren’s activities, attending music programs, having a cup of coffee with friends, visiting on the telephone, and going through her recipe books for something to bake or cook as she was known to make a great pan of caramel rolls.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and John Tungseth.
